Started in 1920, New Era filled a gap in the fashion headwear market by redesigning the production process to focus on quality. Ten years later and New Era shifted gears to focus on baseball caps due to the rise in popularity of professional baseball. It was in the 1960s that New Era took a crucial step on their path to worldwide notoriety: selling directly to MLB teams at the annual Winter Meetings. By 1993, New Era was deemed the exclusive supplier of on-field caps for Major League Baseball.
