About Converse
In 1921, Charles H. âChuckâ Taylor walked into Converseâs Chicago office complaining of sore feet. After some talking, he convinced the company to design a line of comfortable basketball shoes, landed himself a job, and a footwear legacy was born. Working as a traveling salesman, Chuck Taylorâs influence was so great that the Chuck Taylor All Star was renamed after him, and the infamous All Star ankle patch was added to the design. Soon, the sneaker could bee seen on the feet of professional basketball players across the USA, and it became a staple on the hardwood throughout the â80s. In no time at all, the silhouette became a go-to in American households and other professional sports â featuring a sturdy upper and grippy rubber outsole that gave way to plenty of other iconic designs like the Ox, Jack Purcell, One Star, and more.
